About & Submission Policy

Marsh76 began as a practical cataloguing exercise: to index a representative sample of the open web using the principles of subject classification familiar from library card catalogues. The aim was to produce a reference that browsers could consult without relying on search-engine ranking or algorithmic curation. The catalogue is organised into 22 subject drawers, each covering a distinct domain of human activity. Within each drawer, entries are arranged alphabetically by domain name, accompanied by a brief description of the resource. The subject headings were chosen to reflect the actual distribution of the indexed sites, rather than to mirror any pre-existing taxonomy. Every entry in Marsh76 has been reviewed by a cataloguer before being added to the relevant drawer. The review process considers the subject relevance of the entry and the accuracy of its title and description. Entries that do not meet these criteria are held pending revision or returned to the submitter with notes. Marsh76 accepts submissions at no cost. The submission form asks for the URL of the site, a category selection, and an optional description. Submitted entries are processed in the order received and added to the relevant drawer once review is complete. The catalogue does not accept submissions for pages that are under construction or that redirect to off-topic content. The catalogue is maintained as a public reference resource and does not carry advertising or sponsored placements. Entries are listed on equal terms regardless of the size or commercial status of the site. Marsh76 is part of a wider network of catalogues sharing the same indexed inventory of sites, each with a distinct subject organisation and presentation.
